Nicki Minaj Slammed Melania Trump, Then (Kind of) Apologized: ‘She Seems Nice’
Sorry, not sorry. Nicki Minaj slammed Melania Trump during her performance at the Tidal X: 1015 concert in Brooklyn on Saturday, October 15, then gave a half-hearted apology via Twitter the next day.
While performing an expletive-filled rap on stage, Minaj, 33, turned her focus to the current presidential election.
“‘Cause you n---as are so f--king weak, y’all got the audacity to be intimidated by the bad motherf--king queen and get your motherf--king feelings hurt,” she shouted into the microphone. “But it’s O-motherf--king-K, ‘cause Barack needed a Michelle, bitch, and Bill needed a motherf--king Hillary, bitch. You better pray to God you don’t get stuck with a motherf--king Melania. You n---as want brainless bitches? To stroke your motherf--king egos? Well, f--k you, n---as.”
When fans of the “Bang Bang” singer called the female emcee out for criticizing the Republican presidential candidate’s third wife, Minaj took to Twitter to clarify.
“Wasn’t ‘dragging,’” she wrote. “She seems nice. But a smart man knows he needs a certain ‘kind’ of woman when running for President/attempting greatness.”
Melania, 46, has long remained mum on her husband’s many headline-making scandals. Following the Friday, October 7, release of newly surfaced 2005 footage showing the real estate mogul demeaning women — aka those “grab ’em by the p--sy” quotes — the designer finally spoke out.
“The words my husband used are unacceptable and offensive to me,” she said in a statement. “This does not represent the man that I know. He has the heart and mind of a leader. I hope people will accept his apology, as I have, and focus on the important issues facing our nation and the world.”
Though the Slovenia-born former model seemingly publicly forgave her husband, she did not want to sit down for a joint TV appearance with the GOP presidential hopeful, according to The New York Times, something Trump’s advisers highly suggested the couple do.
According to the Times, deliberations for the Trumps’ TV interview “were moving ahead” despite Melania’s “lack of interest in appearing on camera.” (Bill and Hillary Clinton did a joint interview with 60 Minutes in 1992 in response to Gennifer Flowers’ claims that she had a 12-year affair with the then-president.)
In January, Melania told Us that though she prefers to keep her politics private, she does have her own opinions. “I give him ideas, and I give him opinions,” she told Us. “Some stuff he listens to.”
